Children are admitted to school at the beginning of the academic year in which they become five. It is quite usual for some to reach five just as they start school while others may not reach that age until the next summer. This inevitably means that there will be a difference in the stage of development that each child has reached.
At Wedmore First School Academy all children start school part time at the beginning of September and become full time pupils before the half term holiday.
Preparation for school
During the summer term before your child starts, you have the opportunity to take part in our extensive induction programme. This comprises several coffee mornings, a chance to meet the teacher and a parent’s induction meeting. For the children it comprises story times and a number of sessions in school with their class teacher.
