Triathlon Postponed
After much deliberation we have decided to announce the postponement of the Triathlon.
With the long term weather forecast mainly consisting to rain for all of this week and well into next, we have taken the decision to move it on into June.
Now that the cycling element will be on the playfields we need them to be firm enough to cover the running and cycling, so it is with this in mind that we have had to disregard both the original and contingency date.
We are very much hoping June will see better weather all round and we do hope you are able to make the new date.
Please find new entry forms and entry renewal forms below.
We apologise for any inconvenience and we look forward to having an amazing day of sporting fun on June 24th 2012.
Many thanks
Jo Keen
Triathlon organiser

Wedmore Masquerade Ball
The Wedmore Ball is fast approaching, and there are still a few tables remaining. You can book your table on-line via the school website (follow the PTA link), or with a booking form from the school office.
Tables should be booked for groups of 10 or 12 people, but if you cannot get that many people together (which can be difficult), then please let us know and we will seat you with other guests who also do not have a full table. If this is the case, please email ceri.pierce@btinternet.com or telephoned on 01934 710626, to register - you SHALL go to the Ball!!!
The Ball is being held on 16th June, in the school grounds, 7pm – late. Tickets are £40 each and include a champagne reception, 3 course dinner, auction, live music and dancing. It is always a fantastic night and a great way to raise money to support the school.

Beaver Scout Cake Sale
A huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who supported the cake sale on Thursday. The Beaver Scouts had great fun making and decorating the cakes ready for the sale. We made £64 which will go to buy new equipment for the scout groups. If you would like more information about any of the scout groups contact anitafrenchbeavers@hotmail.co.uk.

SEVERE NUT ALLERGY
We have a child in school with a severe nut allergy, therefore we would just like to remind all parents that children cannot bring into school anything that contains, or may contain nuts into school at any time.
School Website
We now have a student section on our website. Please go to:- www.wedmorefirstschool.org.uk to find out more details!

Olympic Day
The children will need a top in the colour of their topic group (Planets=Blue, Stars=Yellow, Asteroids=Green, Comets=Red), for the Thursday 14th June. We will be attempting to recreate the Olympic rings in the grounds of St Mary’s Church Wedmore on that morning. Following that the children will be taking part in an Olympic run around the village. The exact route is still being finalised but will conclude at the school (@12ish). More details to follow shortly.

Inset Training Days for Year 2012-2013
Monday 3rd September 2012 Monday 5th November 2012 Friday 8th March 2013 Friday 24th May 2013 Monday 22nd July 2013 Tuesday 23rd July 2013

Kwik Cricket Competition
Well done to all the KS2 children who took part in the Kwik Cricket Competition at HSMS last night. Unfortunately Wedmore could not make it a clean sweep of sporting triumphs in Olympic year, as we failed to make the final with either of our teams. An exciting 3rd place play-off pitted the two Wedmore teams against each other with some wonderful skills on display from both sides.

Parking in the Lay-by
We have an increased number of parents who are beginning to use the lay-by again to drop off and collect children in the mornings and at the end of the school day. We have a list of registration numbers which we will not hesitate to ‘name and shame’ if they continue to do this. Please abide by our simple school rules for the safety of YOUR OWN CHILDREN!
